The Union Pacific Peer Support Program offers friendship and support to peers who experience a disabling injury, family illness, death, or other crises that might arise. Often, we too have experienced painful incidents and share with others the story of our recovery, that we may continue to liberate ourselves and encourage others in dealing with their feelings.
We help others cope with a critical incident by offering caring human support.
We are available to peers as they deal with the human and emotional impact of an incident. We help normalize the feelings and reactions others experience and extend our continued support throughout the recovery process.
We have been trained to assist to better understand, work through and resolve a critical experience in their lives. We are available to build a bridge to a professional resource, should such service be needed.
We do Peer Support because we believe it promotes the recovery steps of coping, healing, and resolving the effects of a critical incident. We believe Peer Support, in a time of need can benefit each of us, our families and our work environment.
